Live Theatre

Barely had the sounds of Auld Lang Syne heralded the start of 2019, than I had a 5 camera crew at London’s Royal Festival Hall to film Circus 1903. This was an amazing show featuring an array of “Dont try this at home” acts, as well as Elephants operated by the puppeteers from War Horse, first seen on the 2018 Royal Variety Show and with the multi talented David Williamson in the role of Ringmaster.

The following month I was next door at the Queen Elizabeth Hall to Film an archive of Peppa Pig’s First Concert. At first sight something of a climb down from Circus 1903 but given that a 3ft 3year old cherub of the female species, somehow climbed onto the stage mid show, to cuddle PP, I can proudly say that I was there to archive what the Sun newspaper called “A fans invasion”…proof that you cannot believe what you read in the papers.

In August the crew were back in London for The Illusionists at The Shaftesbury Theatre. The production by The Works Entertainment, part of Cirque du Soleil features 7 of the world’s top Ilusionists. An incredible show to watch in the audience but back in the studio, with footage from 7 cameras, it was MAGIC!

Additionally during the year other professional touring shows have been filmed or archived in preparation for worldwide tours as well as a number of shows performed by some of the counties dance and theatre schools.

2020 UPDATE

January 2020 saw us back at the Royal Festival Hall, filming the new Circus 1903 show for Fiery Angel, once again with a 5 camera coverage. In February we were in Birmingham at the excellent Town Hall to film multicamera, the first of two Peppa Pig Live shows. Of course the 23rd of March saw the lockdown and all live work came to an immediate halt.

My thoughts go out to all the theatre family be they performers, musicians, technical, production, management or front of house.
