My Absence in September and October

Those customers who contacted me by phone during September and October invariably spoke to my wife Stephanie. She would have told them I would not be undertaking any new work until November.

By way of explanation, we had decided to take a couple of short breaks once the School holidays were over, a few days in the West Country, followed by a trip to The Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge. At the end of September a drive to Cologne was also a possibility, taking in the grape harvests and wine festivals.

Contrary to rumours, I was neither in Police custody, nor following my not so great attempt to emulate James Martin’s sugar spinning, resulting in an 8 hour clean up, had my wife locked me in the shed, albeit a close call.  Also untrue was that following my £25.00 Premium Bond win I had gone backpacking to India to watch the Cricket World Cup. Given the England results, just as well.

The reality was that on Friday 8th September, after 15 hours of feeling achy and unwell akin to REAL FLU as opposed to male flu, I was admitted to Basildon Hospital. After various tests, an Angiogram showed I had 3 blocked arteries, not treatable by stents and that surgery was the only option. It was another month before I was transferred “across the bridge” from the main hospital to the adjoining Essex CTC for surgery on 18th October.

The good news is a week later I was discharged and as planned I am now undertaking studio based work. The computers and associated kit are once again whirring away and so all types of transfers from Film and Video to DVD and USB are now being undertaken.

It is hoped to undertake new filming assignments in the New Year.
